Cryopen

Cryopen is the use of extreme cold to freeze and remove abnormal tissue. It is used to treat many skin conditions (including warts and skin tags).

At the clinic we are able to remove and treat a variety of benign skin conditions which are unfortunately no longer covered by the NHS services.

Podiatry – Corns & Callus removal

Callus (hard skin) is unsightly and uncomfortable. If left it can crack and develop into painful corns. Corns and callus can be painlessly removed. Your feet will look and feel like new. Corns can occur anywhere that there is rubbing or in between the toes is a very common place. Splinters can occur from time to time as people walk barefoot at home. Relief can be given immediately in a clinic as it is carefully removed to prevent further pain or infection.

Podiatry – Nail Problems

An ingrown toe nail can be cripplingly painful and should be treated immediately as it can cause infection. Thick nails can be painful and are more difficult to cut. Some people have very curved nails naturally in shape and these can cause problems. There are other nail problems that can be expertly dealt with. We use a painless drill with a burr to file the nails and make them smooth.

Verruca (also known as planter warts) are caused by a virus called the human papilloma Virus and can spread. In clinic, we use the Cryopen which needs an initial assessment followed by 2/3 sessions depending on the lesion size. Acid therapy can be used in combination.

Podiatry and Diabetes Care

Diabetes is one of the most common conditions now occurring in the western world. It’s important to have a Diabetic assessment with a Podiatrist to make sure your feet are in good health. During the Diabetic assessment, your pulses are checked with an ultrasound doppler machine, and sensation and skin tests are done on your feet also to assess for complications.

Wilde-Pedique

A cosmetic nail which is used to disguise a thickened, damaged or fungal nail. It is applied and cured under a UV light similar to how shellac is cured but the material isn’t hard. This protects your original nail and prevents any further damage. It is a good short term solution.

Ingrown Toenails

Ingrown toenails can be extremely painful and lead to infection if untreated, often resulting from improper nail trimming or sports activities. In severe cases, nail surgery may be required, using a local anaesthetic (digital block) to numb the toe before removing the nail spike and applying phenol to prevent regrowth. This procedure, called a partial nail avulsion (PNA), takes about an hour, with recovery starting immediately and full healing in four to six weeks. Aftercare includes rest, avoiding sports, and regular check-ups at the clinic. Surgery is a last resort but may be necessary for recurring infections.

Orthotics

Orthotics are insoles or supports that sit inside your shoes to improve biomechanics and joint positions. They can be essential for people who play sports and anyone who has biomechanical-related foot, leg and back pain. A Biomechanical assessment is done which includes measuring your limb length, muscles tests and gait assessment. We ask you to wear light-fitting clothes or shorts at the knee as we will be doing tests on the couch. An impression of your feet is taken, from these casts, the insoles are made. The casts are kept on file for up to 14 months meaning you can have a second pair made in that time. We need an hour’s appointment for the session in total. We use Ottoform material to make silicone devices for the lesser toes to help treat hammer toes and bunions, or where toes are rubbing on each other and causing corns.

A thorough assessment and medial history is taken before any treatment as a drug is being prescribed. Lower face areas can be treated to slim the jawline and treat TMJ and teeth grinding (bruxism). All treatments can last on average 3-4 months or longer. There is minimal downtime afterwards. A thorough assessment is done with consent and aftercare is given at the session.
